Hi, American friends!!!! This is the IFDC, in Argentina.....

The IFDC (Instituto de Formación Docente Continua) is a teacher training institute, a sort of college where people study to become teachers. The institute was founded in 1999 by the state government and offers different areas of study: Geography, History, Maths, Language, Political Science and English.

The institute is located in San Luis city, the capital city of the province of San Luis. We are situated in the Cuyo region in Argentina, what means that we live on a mountain area in the west of the country.

The beautiful surroundings of the city: Potrero de los Funes Lake
San Luis is a city of around 500,000 inhabitants. There are several universities and colleges in San Luis. The  city is close to a Mountain Range so the landscapes around the city are beautiful.

The students participating in this cultural exchange are between 18 and 30 years old and they are part of a training program to be accepted as English trainee teachers in our instute. It's important to highlight that in order to become a regular student, they need to pass a proficiency test at the beginning of the semester (for us, in February 2011) and that's why they are having this English Language course.....

We are very excited about this opportunity to get to know more about your culture and, at the same time, use English as the medium to show you our culture!!!! For some students, this will be the first time they communicate with a native speaker!

We hope to hear from you soon!

Greetings from San Luis, Argentina
